Jim and I moved into our house in February 2005. I remember when we first came to see the house. It was not much to look at. The house was hidden in a forest behind 2 huge pine trees which had lifted the sidewalk up about a foot. The back of the house was sloping, the 1 and only bedroom was tiny, and the kitchen was, well, pathetic. I walked in and almost immediately walked out. But, thankfully Jim had the vision. The house had a ton of potential. Now, I could not imagine leaving our house. We live in a wonderful neighborhood where our neighbors have become our good friends. We have developed a love of the craftsman style and older homes.
Right after we moved in we started talking about all the things that one day we wanted to do. This is where we wanted to raise family, we were not going anywhere. We had big dreams for this house. At times it seemed like our dreams were too big. So, in the mean time, we have done a lot of "little" things to spruce up the house. Fist thing first, we took out the pine trees and had the sidewalk fixed. It brought a whole new look to our street and you could actually see our house! We moved some walls around, painted inside and out, did a quick remodel to the kitchen, put grass and a new tree in the front yard. It has turned into a beautiful house!
We started talking to one architect sometime in 2006. We were not very happy with the things he was showing us. It just seemed like he was not listening to anything we were saying. Luckily, we were introduced to another architect in 2008. Leopold has been doing a fantastic job making our dreams become reality. He truly understands what we are trying to do and is making sure it is being done in the best way possible. He is full of innovative, creative ideas and is such a pleasure to work with. So, after years of talking about doing a remodel, it is finally happening!
We hope you will all enjoy seeing our progress and following us on this adventure!

Thank you so much for including me in this! I feel like I am there with you ... wish I could be (besides it's warmer there than in Massachusetts -5 degrees this morning). I look forward to seeing the progress. Maybe some day we can get out there and see it first hand! Good luck and enjoy!
Gretchen :)
Its great to see the progress you made first hand. I know that all the dirt and inconvenience will be worth it in the long run. I look forward to the final days, when you have the patter of little feet inside the house also. It has been a pleasure to watch you two grow so close.
Love to you, Mom
Wow. It is great to remember "where we came from" as the old saying goes. Great beginning. I love that we can see the progress 1st hand as your neighbors!
